Any standard unpatched Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a client will work. If you already have one, you can use it.

2. Install the Frozen Throne realmlist

Download our realmlist.wtf and place it in your client under Data\enUS\.

A Server Built Around Freedom

Frozen Throne began as a hobby project for a few friends. The idea was never to become the biggest private server, fill every city with hundreds of players, or replace the traditional WotLK experience with something unrecognizable.

The goal was simpler: keep Wrath of the Lich King familiar, stable, and fun, while removing the moments where progression stops simply because a group cannot be found. Over time, that idea grew into a server where PlayerBots, custom dungeon behavior, crossfaction systems, quality-of-life improvements, and server-specific fixes work together to let you explore Azeroth on your own schedule.

You can quest alone, enter RDF, clear dungeons with bots, level alternate characters alongside your main, fight in battlegrounds, and work your way into raids. Real players are always welcome in your party — the bots are there to make the world playable when other people are not.

More Than a Stock AzerothCore Setup

Frozen Throne combines AzerothCore, community projects, maintained custom forks, server-specific patches, and our own fixes. We regularly integrate upstream improvements while keeping custom behavior where it better serves the server's solo-friendly design.

PlayerBots

Quest, grind, run dungeons, raid, join battlegrounds and use RDF with bots supporting your progression.

Autonomous DungeonClear

Dungeon bots can navigate and clear instances largely on their own, with the tank leading the way. No addon is required.

Crossfaction RDF

Horde and Alliance can be matched together, including bot command support while everyone is in the same party.

Alt Bot Support

Bring alternate characters along and level or gear them while continuing to play your main character.

Mythic+

Optional endgame dungeon progression is available up to Mythic +7 with gold, Emblems of Frost and epic rewards.

Quality of Life

AoE loot, auto-sell junk, unlocked flight paths, stack improvements, automatic spell learning and more.

Account-Wide Mounts

Mount collection is friendlier to alts, with no repeated riding-skill grind required on every character.

Living Auction House

A fully functional Auction House Bot keeps the economy more useful even on a smaller population server.

Character Services

Customization, name change, race change and faction change are available for in-game gold.

Solo When You Want. Social When You Can.

Frozen Throne is especially suited to solo players and small groups. It is for people who want to log in, make meaningful progress, and experience WotLK content without waiting hours for the exact group composition to appear.

That does not mean the server is designed to be lonely. Crossfaction world chat, guilds, Guild Houses, real-player grouping and an active Discord community are all part of the experience. Bots fill gaps; they do not replace the community around them.

If your dream server is a permanently crowded capital city, Frozen Throne may not be the right fit. If you want a relaxed realm where almost all of the game remains accessible at your own pace, that is exactly where it stands apart.

Free to Play. No Pay-to-Win Gear.

Frozen Throne is completely free to play. Donations are optional and help cover dedicated hosting and continued development. Donation rewards focus on cosmetic mounts, companion pets, and an optional Level 80 Character Boost that does not include gear, gold, reputation, professions, or other progression rewards.

Raid gear, stronger stats, combat advantages and priority treatment are not sold. Normal gameplay content, raids, Mythic+, PlayerBots, DungeonClear and quality-of-life systems remain available without donating.

Actively Maintained

The server has been running on dedicated hardware while the project continues to mature. Reported bugs are fixed, player suggestions are considered, upstream changes are reviewed, and custom systems continue to evolve.

What started as a small personal project has grown into a dedicated community of players who enjoy progressing differently — without losing the identity of Wrath of the Lich King.
